My five favorite memories of 2008 are pretty simple. I wanted to give a little high five to some of my favorite times of the past year, so here they are:
5. Mother’s day. It was great having my mom and grandma here. And Steve sent me flowers for the first time, ever. 🙂
4. Seeing my brothers at any point in time during the year.
3. Being closer to my mom. It seems like we didn’t get super close until I moved away.
2. Aiden’s Pre-School graduation. I was and am still so proud of him.
1. The day Steve proposed and the whole engagement experience will be forever engraved in my heart.
There are so many more experiences throughout the year that I’m so thankful for. Going to the cabin in Monte Rio, moving into an actual house instead of some horrid apartment, planning and executing Aiden’s birthday party, and having people over to entertain and cook for. Despite the economy being horrible, I’d still say that we had an amazing year, and we absolutely look forward to 2009 and all that it brings with it.
I’d like to say that I’m not making resolutions because if I make up my mind to do something, I usually do it right away. A couple things that I’d like to do though are finish some of my website projects and finish losing the excess weight I’m not fond of. I’m sure that Steve has goals as well but I’ll let him tell you about them.
Happy New Year!
The location that we’ve chosen for our wedding is the Highlands Inn in Carmel, California. We both have an affinity for the Northern California coastline and spend a lot of our time there since we live so close. I think the location is amazingly beautiful and swoon every time I think about it.
I plan to do very simple decoration to the arch, as I love it’s architectural qualities. I hope the weather is nice in June and that the fog will stay away since we’re having a sunset wedding. The room we’re using for our dinner and after-wedding festivities is sized according to our very intimate guest list, haha. I will focus more on the table in that aspect, with some candles or something else romantic.
I’m undecided on wedding colors but I’m sure they will come to me. I’ve always loved a very light blush pink, so I hope to include that as well.
Christmas Day this year was pretty awesome. We spent Christmas Eve in Modesto with Jessica’s family and Christmas Day with Steve’s. We were fortunate enough to sleep in until 9 on Christmas morning. We had to wake Aiden up and he never sleeps in like that. Overall he was very pleased with what Santa brought him and the gifts that every one else gave him.
So far Aiden’s favorites are his kitchen, a velcro dinosaur fort (it has come to be known as the turtle tent), and ‘life-like’ voice activated R2D2. R2D2 doesn’t like to listen to Aiden yet, but I’m sure he will get it to work with him shortly.
Merry Christmas from the Doll Family (us)! We hope that everyone has a happy holiday season and is able to enjoy any time off work they are lucky enough to get.
This year we’re lucky enough to hang out with both of our families, and I’m so happy with the holiday season. We usually have Christmas Eve dinner at my aunts, and then do Christmas Day with Steve’s family. I always make a dessert for Christmas Eve dinner, so I’m looking forward to making these delicious oreo cookie truffles. The season has been full of cheer and I can’t wait to see that carry on into the new year.
In the new year I’ll be plenty busy planning our wedding! I’m so excited (duh) and can’t wait to share some of our plans. Our venue is the Highlands Inn in Carmel, California.
What are your plans for the holidays? How do you normally celebrate?
