Not too long ago, I started my Spring Cleaning. But before that, after reading The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I made quite a few changes and tidied a lot of my home. The process has honestly taken a lot longer than I thought it would, but it has been rewarding none-the-less. Spark Joy by Marie Kondo came out in January and while it’s taken me some time to read, I think it was my favorite of the two so far. It was much more to the point and down to the real work of tidying.

Søren’s 4th birthday is rapidly approaching, and since just after last year’s party I’ve know that I wanted to do something with a forest or trees. He really loves the outdoors, so I’ve decided to go with a camping or outdoorsy theme. I thought about doing a Where The Wild Things Are party since he was Max for Halloween (and makes a perfect Max!), but I really don’t like doing character parties. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Camp Birthday Inspiration in a secret Pinterest board (OoOoOooOh!) to help guide me as I plan. I think I’ve narrowed the basics down to a few major party items.

California From Above

If you follow along on instagram or snapchat, you’ll remember that I just took a short (very short, 12 hours!) trip to Los Angeles. Our flight left at dawn and returned in the late evening. I can’t recall that I’ve ever flown out of San Jose at dawn, and the marine layer around the mountains in California was nothing short of amazing. California from above is so very beautiful. This Winter we’ve actually received a decent amount of rain, so the mountains are all greener than they’ve been in the last few years. It really made me remember why I love living in California so much.
