Monthly Musings
During our trip to Crafting Community, we had the pleasure of staying at Ace Hotel Palm Springs. That officially makes check number two off my ace bucket list, the first being in Seattle. Despite our experience being a little different because of camp, the place was everything I hoped it would be. We like Ace Hotels because there is extra thought put into all the right aspects of a hotel stay. I don’t always care for some of the extras at finer hotels, but absolutely hate some of the bland design and horrible service at lower-level chains.
Accommodations
The Patio with Fireplace room was quite spacious, and an extra bed was made out for Aiden in addition to the king sized bed for the three of us. We had a good sized patio with a fireplace which was perfect for relaxing after the kids were off to sleep. The shower was good sized, with high quality rudy’s toiletries included. My favorite thing about Ace is the charcoal facial soap from detox because I use a charcoal soap and always have to bring my own. I don’t need to freak out if I forget it while staying here.
Amenities
Most amenities were standard at Ace. The pool area was a big hit with temperatures climbing above 90F most days. There were actually two pools available during camp which was wonderful because one was more quiet. At the larger pool towels were available via a towel bus, and food and drink were also available at the bar. Ace in Palm Springs boasts a full service spa, gym, and a dog park since it is pet friendly. The kids never felt out of place and were welcomed with open arms, and I have friends who feel the same.
We really enjoyed our time at Crafting Community, and our time at Ace. We’d love to go back to see more of Palm Springs at some point, perhaps during the cooler months. As for a rating, 9/10 is our pick. I wish the concrete around the pool weren’t so hot, and parking were a little easier. but overall it’s another Ace property that we’re in love with.

We stayed at Ace Palm Springs three days in July 2016, one of these was a Saturday: it was like spring break, a music video and the craziest bachelor party rolled into one. Very fun, except for the expirence for our 2 kids aged 11 and 8. We were almost worried they would get STDs from the pool! Seriously: people were having sex and smoking weed in the pool. We are from Denmark and super liberal and not prudish at all, but this was too much. After the weekend things slowed down, and the hotel was absolutely fantastic. My point is that if you are traveling with kids consider going on weekdays, or contacting the hotel in advance to hear if they have many events planned or groups staying with them. If it’s just adults, it’s a super fun and a lovely hotel. The kids were welcomed by the hotel and staff, but the behavior of other guests was too much.
