Camp Søren, A Nature Camp Party

S'mores cake from Kara's Cupcakes

On April 30th our little Søren turned four years old. I’m still in shock, but I think right now is my favorite age for him. He’s a good listener, a great sidekick, and one of his very favorite things is to be outside and in nature, so it only seemed natural to throw a nature camp party for him. I wanted it to be something intimate and fun for everyone involved, so I had it at one of our favorite local parks. I shared my inspiration awhile back, and I’m happy to share how it all turned out today.

Food
I usually like to have some food catered for parties, and this time I used Whole Foods, along with some snacks and drinks from Safeway and World Market. The skewers, meatballs, and potato salad are from Whole Foods, along with these adorable box lunches for the kids. For drinks, I had some water, iced tea, and the blood orange and lemonade sparkling drinks from San Pellegrino. The S’mores cake and flourless chocolate mini cupcakes are from Kara’s Cupcakes, one of my very favorite local bakeries.

Decor
I didn’t want the decor to be something that was too over-the-top or glitzy. I wanted it to feel inspired by nature and simple. The tablecloths are these chambray ones from Target, and I spread a couple of the queen-sized backvial bedspread‘s from Ikea on the lawn for people to hang out on. Since I shop there anyway for my party goodies, I partnered with World Market for the drinks and decor. Most of my decor goodies are from there, especially this adorable chalkboard arrow sign.

Fun
I kept it relatively simple and bought this ring toss game, had some sand toys and jump ropes available, and gave the kids some goodies in a white cotton sack that I hand stamped with a custom 3d printed stamp I talked my husband into making. I also printed these super adorable masks on heavyweight cardstock for the kids to paint, then used this velvet ribbon to tie them together.

Overall I’m really happy with the way everything turned out. It felt like a relaxed get-together with just enough friends for Søren to play with, but not too many so it was overwhelming. Thanks to my friends Sally and Kate for picking up the camera at times I wasn’t able to, and a huge thanks to World Market for partnering on this event.

Umm is it normal to be jealous of a four year old’s party?!

Maybe. I’ve seen quite a few I would have loved for myself, haha!

Wow, this party setup is perfection! And that S’mores cake is so unique and perfect for the theme. You hit it out of the park!

hugs, Christina
