Often when I travel, I try to avoid the typical tourist look. Not only does it help me to enjoy the city more as a local when I travel, but it helps to keep those who may prey on tourists away as well. I find that usually when I visit the more popular places in San Francisco there are some definite things that make people stick out as a tourist. I’ve consulted with a bunch of my local friends about how to blend in, and today I’m sharing a few of those tips with you.Read More
Awhile back I was invited to attend a little Mother’s Day get-together at the goop MRKT pop-up shop in San Francisco. It’s located in the Frank Lloyd Wright building, brought back to it’s full glory by Steven Volpe (more of the making here). Isn’t the space magical? Søren and I had a wonderful time shopping and mingling with other mamas and littles, I can’t wait to go back again before it closes and do some more
I picked up her newest cookbook, It’s All Easy, and am super excited to try out some of the recipes. I was always scared of her others (I’ve heard stories), but I mean this one has easy in the title, so how hard can it be? I also picked up a couple of swimsuits (I might be addicted), and this awesome yoga mat made from recycled wetsuits. I’ve included some of my other favorite goop picks below!

The boat house is adorable, and although the paddle around the lake was more strenuous than I thought it was still a wonderful experience.
We arrived at the boat house just after lunch and checked out a standard size paddle boat…Read More
Last year I took my youngest son, Søren, to Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden as part of my Little Explorer series. Sadly there weren’t any tulips, but there were lots of beautiful poppies. This year I’m proud to say that we made it there in a timely manner, if not a little early. There were quite a few blooms up and open, with the promise of more emerging from the soil. I’d love to return in a couple of weeks to see if those have come up, but we’ve had a couple of storms come through lately so they may damage the current blooms.
Sparing the Spring showers we’ve had lately, the day we visited was beautiful and we tucked ourselves back into a quiet corner to stay far out of anyone else’s photos and mind our own business. I really enjoy being outdoors for picnics, I think I will make them more often for our “Family Sunday” outings. Maybe I’m just not used to having actual Winter weather, but the California sunshine sure felt good on my skin.Read More
