I think most of my childhood revolved around these trees or something similar. Growing up in the central valley of California had it’s upside in the form of beautiful almond tree orchard blossoms during Spring, and a downside in the form of seasonal allergies. We made a trip to visit family this past week and the boys were so curious about the orchards. Sรธren called them “snow trees” and although Aiden has seen them before, his eyes were still filled with wonder. I still can’t help but feel a little magic when I see them.

Are there any types of flowers or trees that bring back childhood memories for you? Which ones?

52 Weeks Project is a portrait of my child once a week, every week in 2015. To see the whole series, click here.

    1. There are fields of cherry trees too! They are not as common where I grew up, but peach and apricot trees make the same kinds of blossoms in the Spring. It’s a really sad time for my allergies, but happy for photos! Ha.

  1. What a beautiful spot to capture pictures of nature AND your two CUTE boys!! I love the things Soren is starting to say!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You are going to be so blown away when you come home / talk to him again. He jabbers on about his ‘masterpiece’ (artwork) and all sorts of other things. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. LOLOLOL I LOVE that Aiden is wearing shorts! California winter at its finest. And… please take me to whereever these trees are. This is crazy gorgeous. Does it look like this year round, or are these buds only blooming for a short period of time? OMG I *think* this might be a close tie to palm trees. Actually. Just kidding. Nothing beats palm trees hahahahahaha

  3. Aiden is looking so much like you!

Those trees are beautiful. I love cherry blossom trees. I want to go to the festival in Washington DC that they have every year. They remind me of the east coast.

  4. These photos are incredible! I’d have to say apple trees bring me back to my childhood. We use to have one in my backyard and it was so beautiful. There was only a short time that the apples were good enough to pick and eat, but it was such a big beautiful tree that we always cherished it!
