Monthly Musings
Back when my husband and I first began dating (ten years ago!), he left the country for a few weeks to take a trip to Peru. The trip was a charitable effort to provide assistance to schools in the area. As part of it they went through Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and a few other places. His wifi access was spotty at best, but he did his best to stay in contact while he was away.
His interest in photography and beautiful photos from this trip was my main inspiration for why I finally buckled down and bought my first dSLR. I was always interested in photography before but had never owned or even tried out a dSLR before. I was completely unfamiliar with anything related to photography outside of framing an image. I’m so glad I did, and am always thankful to him for inspiring me to pick up a more serious camera.
Without further ado, here are the photos from his trip. There are more over in this album, but I couldn’t share them all, so I chose some of my favorites to feature today.
These photos are stunning! Crossing my fingers I’ll be able to go in June 2018. I’ve been searching for a camera that will hold well for the weather/humidity. I’m also planning on doing the 4 day Inca Trail! Is there anything you would recommend for the climate and for the trail? I’d like to find one that isn’t too heavy to trek with, but also capable of taking gorgeous photos like your husbands. If you could offer advice, I would appreciate your help 🙂
I’m a really big fan of the Canon G9X for a lightweight camera. You can shoot in manual mode and it has a decent range (not so much for low-light though as it’s not a full frame SLR), and it also shoots in raw. I also use this underwater housing with it. If you don’t want to give up too much quality you can look into the mirrorless cameras as well. My husband uses a camera from the Sony a series that he loves. Have a great time on your trip, it sounds amazing!
