I don’t have any huge resolutions for this year. Just to keep trying to be the best each one of us (together and apart) can be! I do happen to have a few goals I wouldn’t mind striving for though.
Eat new & “nicer” foods.
I am so sick and tired of eating the same old thing week after week. I’m going to mix it up a bit and try new foods. I don’t mean anything crazy, but I want a menu that involves more than basic items. I know pasta is easy but if I have to eat it one more time I might gag on it.
Eat less processed food.
We really don’t eat a whole lot of processed foods as it is, but I’d like to start making our own crackers, sandwich breads, Fruit leathers, etc. I don’t think it’s necessarily hard once you get into a routine of it. I think this blends itself into the next goal.
Do more myself.
The wheels are turning now and my trips to Ikea where I do more than window shop (which I can do online anyway – save gas!) may become more few and far between. I know, I’m crazy. It’s okay, Ana White is with me.
Walk more, drive less.
It started with walking to get Aiden from school (Steve drops him off on his way to work) and has blossomed into walking to get groceries. Walking to other stores nearby. Walking to the park. Even in the rain. I think I’ve cut my gas usage at least by half by only driving when I absolutely have to.
Travel more.
This completely contradicts the previous goal, but I want Aiden to see more of California. We live near so many amazing sights and in a beautiful state. He should see it! My grandparents were cross-country truck drivers and I had been to almost every state in the United States, and Canada by the time I was his age. I want him to be able to experience something like that as well. Although I didn’t think much of it at the time, in retrospect I really appreciate all of the wisdom I gained during that time.
This article was very inspiring for me and may or may not have inspired some of these goals. I, however, will not be buying meat or cheese in jars, haha.
