For our little getaway to Santa Cruz, we stayed at the Dream Inn. It’s situated on West Cliff Drive, directly on the sand. It’s also conveniently located next to the Beach Boardwalk and Wharf. For years as a little girl my family would visit the beach and I’d dream of being able to stay close to it for longer than a day.
Room
We stayed in an Ocean View Executive King Room. It wasn’t exactly budget friendly, but was well worth the dough. The decor was very retro-chic and the floorplan was spacious (though sadly, it did not have the sweet surfboard decor like on their website). It was spotless. The room had plenty of extras like real coffee cups, magazines, a wardrobe, toiletries, and luxurious robes. I wore one down to the hot tub instead of my own because it was thicker and kept me warm for the walk down.
Amenities
Ocean views, beach access, pool, hot tub, and a great restaurant; what more could you ask for? Well into the evening of our stay I had some trouble using one of the wine openers and to make a long story short, room service had to come to our room a few times to help get the bottle open. It took a lot of effort on their part and they were always happy to help. Since I knew we were checking out in the morning I left our breakfast order on the doorknob and it arrived perfect and on time the next morning.
Overall I’d rate this hotel a 10/10. The only thing I didn’t like was that due to the location and proximity to the ocean, valet parked cars are actually parked across the street. My car was safe while we were there, and everything else, from the room, to service, and food was all perfect.
