During my last trip, I stayed at the beautiful Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara. It is centrally located, and is within walking distance to most of downtown. It is located steps from State Street (shopping!), and an easy 20 minute drive from the airport. I was very surprised by the local flair and drive to set itself apart from other hotel chains.
Accommodations
The rooms and common areas of the Canary were immaculately kept with decor that matches the Santa Barbara vibe perfectly. The colors in the main areas of my room were very spa like and relaxing, while the bathroom boasted beautiful tile work reminiscent of the architecture in Santa Barbara. They really went the extra mile to include details that make your stay even nicer. The mini bar was full to-the-brim of anything you could imagine, and the bathroom goodies were top-knotch.
Amenities
The roof top lounge area is by far the top ranking bonus for the Canary. The views of downtown Santa Barbara are unbeatable, and although I didn’t get to dip into the pool, it looked wonderful. Finch and Fork is the hotel’s feature restaurant, serving farm-to-fork style cocktails and American eats. During times of unpleasant weather, the pull-through valet service is a wonderful addition as well.
All of these finer details and attention to local culture are what really make the Canary a unique place in Santa Barbara. You definitely won’t feel like you’re at a chain hotel during your stay, and the service staff was warm and welcoming.
This trip to Santa Barbara, including this stay with Canary Hotel were part of an invitation I received from Visit Santa Barbara to learn more about the arts and culture in Santa Barbara. While this trip, and post were sponsored, all words and photos are my own.
