Part of the reason why I love my packing posts so much is the community that they inspire. I love getting feedback and input from people all over the world about various destinations. Every week I will feature a fellow stylish traveler. To share some of her insight about NYC is Amanda Ray from The Chambray Bunny.
Can you share a little bit about yourself?
I’m Amanda Ray, the lady behind The Chambray Bunny. During the day you’ll find me managing Global Digital Advertising and Promotion campaigns at a world-renowned company and at night I’ll be designing, photographing, blogging, styling, and online shopping until my heart is content.
Classic fashion pieces will always be a favorite of mine, but lately I just can’t resist mixing patterns and new trends to add some extra spice & sparkle to my everyday outfits!
I’m a firm believer that traveling around the world, running, yoga and walking the dog with my husband will keep me stress-free, while numerous skinny caramel macchiatos keep me caffeinated when life gets crazy!
Have you been to NYC? Was it business or pleasure?
I’ve been to NYC multiple times for work and a few times for vacation! Of course, I’ve enjoyed the city much more while vacationing!
What was your favorite thing to do there? If you haven’t been there, what would you wish to do there?
When I vacation in NYC, I always try to pick a hotel that is more of a boutique-style than well-known. To me, it makes my stay much more unique! Other than the actual accommodations, I highly recommend going to a Broadway show (you won’t be disappointed!) and make sure to try restaurants that are a local favorite, not a nation wide chain.
What 5 items would you recommend to pack for NYC?
1. A lightweight, fashionable, and high-capacity purse or tote like this one. You don’t want to be sporting a backpack in NYC, but with all the walking it’s much easier to shove all your essentials in a larger bag.
2. Classic, yet comfortable heels! This is a must in NYC!
3. Depending on the time of the year…I’d pack either an umbrella, sunglasses, hat, trench or rain coat (or parka!), etc.
4. An external battery for my phone. I search for new places on the fly, so I always need extra juice for my phone!
5. A camera, of course!
Can you share one last tip for anyone who would like to visit?
Try to pack light. Mix and match your pieces. Don’t forget to take lots of photos (even iPhone photos are great for memories!). And last but not least, enjoy your trip!
Thank you so much to Amanda for sharing some of her insight about NYC with us. If you’d like to learn more about her you can follow along via her blog and instagram.
