Favorite Bags for Travel

My favorite bags for travel, from a seasoned traveler.

I spend a lot of time on the go, and share a lot of my packing process in my travel light series. Naturally I get a lot of questions about what my favorite travel bags are, and which ones I carry. Today I’m sharing my personal favorites when it comes to travel bags, the most useful travel bags for when I am on the go with my family or on my own.

SUITCASE
Tumi Tegra-Lite® X Frame International Carry-On
This is my go-to suitcase. Sizing fits well under most carry-on restrictions, and the hard sides keep you from expanding beyond those restrictions. I haven’t been asked to gate check it as of yet. It weighs in at only 8lbs, which is manageable for me to move quickly through airports and other places I travel.SHOP NOW
Muji Packing Cubes, part of my favorite bags for travel. PACKING CUBES
Muji Paraglider Mesh Garment Bag
These are my favorite packing cubes to use because they are extremely lightweight and foldable. I own them in one color per person in my family and find that size M fits perfectly in half of a carry-on suitcase.SHOP NOW
TOILETRIES & LIQUIDS
Truffle Clarity Clutch in Large and small
I love these cases because they are clear and lay pretty flat in my bag if I’d like them to. I use the large for items like brushes, makeup, and other non-liquid items. While the small size is TSA approved for liquids.SHOP NOW
Baggu Nylon Pouches, part of my favorite bags for travel. CABLES & WIRES
Baggu 3D Zip Set
These nylon pouches from Baggu come in 3 different sizes and are perfect for storing my electronics extras (chargers, cables, spare batteries, etc.), my intimates, and any other small items I don’t want floating around my suitcase.SHOP NOW
SMALL CROSSBODY
Cuyana Leather Crossbody Pouch
This small crossbody purse from Cuyana is the perfect size to take along when I only need to bring a few items. I don’t bring it on every trip with me, but it’s come in handy especially for recent conferences that I’ve been to. Otherwise I just use my travel wallet as my clutch since it’s simple and beautiful and works great as a standalone piece.SHOP NOW
LEATHER TOTE
Cuyana Classic Leather Zipper Tote
I just have to tell you, this is my everyday purse. It goes everywhere with me. Usually only for special events do I carry a different bag and it’s completely because this one does everything for me. I never keep it more than half full for day-to-day but when in times when I really need to fill it up (like for travel, hello!), I can.SHOP NOW
LAPTOP SLEEVE
Microfiber “Leather” Laptop Sleeve
I use a sleeve very similar to this, in style and quality. I haven’t found a 100% leather sleeve that is close enough to this style (this might be close, so if you find one, let me know!SHOP NOW
TRAVEL WALLET
Cuyana Leather Travel Wallet
A recent holiday gift from my husband, this beautiful leather travel wallet has been on my wishlist for quite some time. It holds everything from cards and ID, to passports, to boarding passes, and it even has a pouch for coins. Plus, as I mentioned before, it doubles as an evening clutch!SHOP NOW

Great information about travel bags. I am happy with your blog. It is very supportive and useful post. I would like to visit the post once more its valuable content. Thanks for sharing this so interesting post! I really want to be thankful for the way you have put it here.

I’m in dire need of more garment bags thanks for hipping me to these cubes.

I love how sleek and timeless everything is. They’re also all unisex and can be swapped with a traveling partner which is always helpful. No guy would ever want to borrow my leopard or pink pouches. Lol

I love your cute little leather crossbody! Adore the monogram.

These are all fantastic bags, I love the mesh garment bags those are great!

yes to cuyana!! i was hoping you’d say them. their items are awesome!!
elle
southern elle style

These are all great! I’m headed on a trip to California literally next week and I’m super looking forward to the trip but having such a hard time with packing! These bags are all really great suggestions but my favorite might be the leather tote. I love big bags. Especially since I’m a librarian and I need something to carry all of my books to and from work. So that bag could serve dual purpose!

Thanks for all the great bag tips!

xoxo,
Dannie

The number one reason I love it (get ready to LOL) is that when I forget my grocery bags during a quick stop by the grocery store I can seriously fill it up, hahahahaha.

I love the Cuyana Leather Crossbody Pouch. Perfect for my travel essentials – phone, ticket, boarding pass, some cash. I will have to check this out.

I’m always fascinated by what luggage other people use when they travel. With all the travelling I did last year I had to invest in some new luggage and I’m so glad that I did! Great post!

Thanks for the tips and the reminder that as much as I travel I really need to invest in some long term pieces. Happy Travels!

I love those Cuyana bags! So chic! Looks like you travel in style! 🙂

I absolutely love your packing suggestions! I will need to look into getting those Truffle Clarity clutches! I don’t really travel that much, and packing is usually a madness time with the family, I am amazed how organized you are, an have a bag for every need!

I want all of them! lol. They all look amazing but I am really eyeing that crossbody pouch. I could really use one of those right about now.

Finding a good carry on is so difficult. I love the one you have here. Truffle clutches are amazing space savers.

Looks like you’ve covered everything a traveler would need. I rely on my mesh bags and my roller suitcase.

Totally agree with the Truffle clutches. I have two and they make travel so much easier, plus they’re so cute that they almost make packing fun.

This is a great post, and your style is perfect. I am gutted that Cuyana and Truffle aren’t in the UK — would be all over them if they were. Thanks for this post, will be book marking for future US travels

Cuyana will forever be my favourite!

I have a great toiletry bag I purchased forever ago from Thirty One that I use all the time. I need a new suitcase. Something with the hard sides. I’m finally traveling enough that it would be worth investing in!

I don’t travel as much as you do, but I love my weekender carry-on bag. One side holds my laptop and accessories (including sleeve) and the other side holds enough clothing for a long weekend. I need to check out the toiletry clutches because I always use heavy-duty freezer bags in my checked luggage.

I don’t own a suitcase, and I really think I need to change that now I’m a grown up.
