Ethical Shopping, Your Suggestions?

Buy less, choose well, make it last. - Vivienne Westwood | A crowd-sourced list of ethical shopping choices.

More and more lately I’ve made it a point to put thought into my buying habits, where I vote with spending my money, and how ethical my purchase is. It could be called intentional shopping. On top of being conscious about whether an item brings me joy or is something I actually need, I’ve been drawn to making more ethical shopping choices. I constantly find myself being pulled to products that not only make me feel good, but do good by the companies and people who work for them as well as contribute to a better planet for us all.

There’s a fine line between being modern and stylish and being sustainable, organic, earth-friendly, or socially conscious(or all of these!) and I featured these companies around the holidays because they straddle that line so well. It hasn’t been a hard line for me yet, but I’m proud of the better decisions I’m making and hoping it will contribute to a better planet for us all. Some items I need have been easier to find than others, so today I’d love your help.

I’d love to do some crowd-sourcing to help me expand my list. I’ve struggled to find feel good ethical activewear, especially for kids, and swimwear has also been a pain point for me.

What are some of your favorite feel good brands? They can be larger companies or independent makers, I’d love to hear!

Reading about these brands is actually really interesting because I don’t normally think about this. When I read ethical shopping, I was thinking Trader Joe’s LOL but learning more about this is super informative and eye-opening if I’m honest! xx Adaleta Avdic

I love this post but sadly I don’t have any suggestions for you!

I totally agree, I love spending a little extra money to get good ingredients and support local business! Such a great post.

I’ve been doing the same thing lately and I am totally fine with spending a little more money if it means making a difference supporting local artisans or more ethical businesses.
I found Thinx underwear about six months ago for “period underwear” that works in African countries setting up businesses for women to sell reusable pads for every purchase you make – I love that! Not to mention having to spend as much money on tampons, etc. (let me know if you haven’t heard of them yet, I have a discount code 😉

I love this post! Here are some of my favorites: Noonday Collection, Clothe Your Neighbor as Yourself, and Charity: Water!
