Little River Inn near Mendocino, California

Review of Little River Inn, near Mendocino County, California

Recently we were able to take a trip to the Northern Coast of California, to a tiny town called Little River. Since we didn’t get away to Napa on our own, we used this time to make up for it. When we arrived the sun was already over the horizon, so we didn’t get to see much. The next few days were beautiful, and we’re so happy that Little River Inn was so kind to host us during our stay. It is a fifth generation family-owned boutique resort two miles south of Mendocino, California. It had a warm feeling that made for the perfect romantic getaway, reminiscent of our Carmel Babymoon.

Accommodations
The room we stayed in was the Ocean View Jacuzzi Deluxe room and it was very spacious and clean. It featured a jacuzzi tub, a bar and mini fridge, a dining area, free wifi, and a cozy fireplace. My favorite part about our stay was taking a hot bath using the soaking salts provided, then curling up a soft robe in front of the fire. We almost always decline housekeeping service, but the staff was kind enough to deliver a bag of goodies in case we wanted to freshen the room on our own.

Amenities
Aside from being family-owned, which is a big plus in my book, the boutique resort boasts a nine-hole golf course, a Zagat rated restaurant, professional tennis courts, and a day spa to top it the amazing views of the Northern California coastline. It is family and pet-friendly, which are both important to us for our less romantic travels. And there are only 66 guest rooms, which are perfect for the smaller hotel vibe. One of the cooler and more personal touches was that they partnered with a local winery to produce their own blend of North Coast Chardonnay.

Overall I would give this hotel a 10/10. Service was very friendly and the hotel was immaculately kept. The only snag we had was that our breakfast order was incomplete. They fixed it very promptly and took care of our meal without question. I feel like while all resorts have plenty of amenities, great service is truly what sets them apart. Little River Inn definitely delivered the 5th generation service that we’re happy to recommend.
