Last year I took my youngest son, Søren, to Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden as part of my Little Explorer series. Sadly there weren’t any tulips, but there were lots of beautiful poppies. This year I’m proud to say that we made it there in a timely manner, if not a little early. There were quite a few blooms up and open, with the promise of more emerging from the soil. I’d love to return in a couple of weeks to see if those have come up, but we’ve had a couple of storms come through lately so they may damage the current blooms.
Sparing the Spring showers we’ve had lately, the day we visited was beautiful and we tucked ourselves back into a quiet corner to stay far out of anyone else’s photos and mind our own business. I really enjoy being outdoors for picnics, I think I will make them more often for our “Family Sunday” outings. Maybe I’m just not used to having actual Winter weather, but the California sunshine sure felt good on my skin.
