Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

We’re not very big on amusement parks, but the one I grew up going to was the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It’s located in Santa Cruz, California about 45 minutes from our house. I’ve taken Søren there once before as a baby to the beach in front of it, but never as a main activity. Aiden was a couple of years younger as well. I really wanted to make a trip over this Summer, and my plan was to wait until the very last weekday before school started to try to miss some of the crowds. The ‘last Friday’ finally came around so the boys and I packed ourselves up and headed to Santa Cruz. There was no traffic on the way, and less crowds than usual.

The weather was beautiful, not too warm or hot with a slight breeze, my favorite kind. I think it’s a little obvious that Søren enjoyed the rides more than Aiden, and afterwards we ate lunch overlooking the ocean, then took a stroll out onto the wharf to my favorite candy shop. We picked out some sweet treats to bring home and watched the seals for awhile. We had some remaining credit on our rides card, so we spent it in the arcade playing games together. A quick bite of Dole Whip on the way out proved to be their favorite before we headed back home.

  1. We went there last Friday, and man, was it packed! We didn’t go in any of the rides, but we did hang out by the beach, eating ice cream waffles. Santa Cruz is an interesting place!

    1. That’s too bad. I hate when stuff is overrun or too busy. It makes it not fun. Ice cream waffles?! That sounds delicious. 😀

  2. So many fun colors!

    1. I know, right? I love how they are bright and muted at the same time. 🙂

  3. amazing photos! love the colours 😉 looks like such a fun time

    1. Thanks, Bri! It was a blast. 🙂

  4. We LOVE the SC Beach Boardwalk! Less crowded during the spring and fall months, but the free outdoor concerts on Friday nights in the summer are very fun. And the arcade is open all year long!
