During our trip to Oahu, we had to make a stop at one of my favorite (though crowded) spots, Sharks Cove. It’s a great spot to snorkel, wade around in the tide pools, or just hang out for a bit before making your way over to Haleiwa or the rest of the North Shore. We stopped in once for a small amount of time, but came back later to spend more time here. The boys enjoyed wading around the pools, and I hung back and took some photos.

Funny story. Although this place is known for snorkeling, I did not snorkel. I tried to snorkel on our honeymoon here at Turtle Bay, and had a near-miss drowning accident. It turns out I can’t float. I knew it going in, but thought I could swim enough to make it work. I am a decent swimmer but was no match for the coral reef I collided with or having water in my breathing tube.

It must have looked like a hot mess while I panicked and tried to make my way back to shore while crying. My (brand new!) husband was laughing at me until he realized I was actually not having a good time. Moral of this story: I still am not capable of floating, and I don’t even attempt to snorkel, but my husband is part fish.

I’m off in Jamaica right now (see what I packed here), thankful to be learning a little about social media at the Social Media on the Sand conference. It’s been warm and wet, so perfect Caribbean Fall weather. I can’t wait to share the photos with you, because everything here is so beautiful and photogenic.
