Here in California Winter doesn’t stick around for very long. In an effort to get more out of my minimal closet, I like to figure out different ways my items can work year-round. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite Winter to Spring outfit tips with you and hope that they’ll be useful as the seasons begin to warm up where you are too.

5 Winter to Spring Outfit Tips

  1. Add Sandals
Depending on where you live, this may or may not be appropriate. I have to admit here in California I’ve worn sandals a few times already and Spring is yet to come.
  2. Roll your pants
This will help to create a cropped effect, perfect for warmer days that aren’t warm enough for shorter hemlines. This effect works best with slim pant silhouettes instead of wide ones. I try not to worry if the fold is perfect, it looks more lived in and effortless if it’s not. My favorite pants to do this with are my Levi’s 501 jeans.
  3. Shorten your sleeves
If it’s too warm to wear long-sleeved tops under your sweaters, try wearing a t-shirt instead. Since it doesn’t get super cold here, I usually wear a tank top under my sweaters. I love this one by Negative Underwear because it’s so soft.
  4. Wear dresses with boots
Mix Spring dresses with winter boots to add some airy movement while still keeping your feet warm. I’ve been a huge fan of my Dear Frances Tony Boots lately. I love the attitude they have and how I can wear them with a dress or jeans and still feel casual.
  5. Lighten up
Choose lighter colors and fabrics. Think cotton, linen, and silks. If it’s still too cold you can always layer with a light sweater or cardigan.
