Since we’ve completed our last big project for the house, I’m moving on to finish up some details on the inside that have been bugging me for awhile. As the main laundry-person in our family of 4 (plus 3 fur babies), I spend a lot of time doing laundry. A lot. I’ve even written lengthy posts about how to care for your clothing, but I don’t get to enjoy laundry in my day-to-day life. Our laundry area is located in the hallway, and it’s not just tiny, it’s closet-tiny. It brings me absolutely no joy to spend any time there, so today I’ve partnered with Samsung to share some inspiration for our new laundry area and hallway. I really want something more functional for us that is also beautiful and enjoyable. It should feel as if it was meant to be there all along instead of someone just tossing a washer and dryer into a hall closet.
We go to the pool all Summer long, and often travel and are on hikes, so having a space that’s versatile when it comes to caring for our clothing is important to us. We haven’t figured out how to close off the laundry area in a stylish way so I’d love to do something to make the space more beautiful, like make the shelves appear more finished or even add a counter over the washer and dryer. I never am able to stand in the actual laundry area to fold because there is no place for me to do it. I usually end up folding and sorting laundry on our bed, which is a pain to do. If the counter were hinged it would allow access to the top of the washer and dryer and would prevent me from being tempted to let stuff pile up in that area.
Aside from being beautiful, the FlexWash features a huge 5.0 cubic foot lower washer and a smaller and more specialized 1 cubit foot top washer. Even though it is two washers in one, it still only requires one water line so installation is easy. The FlexDry features a 7.5 cubit foot drying compartment and an innovative drying zone up top. You can even lay clothing flat to dry or utilize multi-steam technology, which is absolutely perfect for all of my favorite items! Our washer and dryer are pretty old, basic, and well-loved over the years (including lots of cloth diapers, ha!) so having something like the FlexWash + FlexDry would be a dream-come-true for me.
As you can see, the mood I’m going with is very natural and neutral. I want my laundry room to be a beautiful place that should blend well with the rest of our home. Since laundry is not my favorite activity, it would help for it to be a relaxing space that doesn’t add to my stress level.

THE CONTAINER STORE Marché Steel Wire Basket This basket is more decorative than anything, but it has doubled as a party favor basket more than a few times. I use it to keep all of my jars in place and make them feel more at home on the shelf above the washer. SHOP NOW |

IKEA USA Korken Bottle & Jars I use these inside the wire basket to store items like soaps, clothespins, bleach tablets, etc. In the clear bottle I try to keep my liquid laundry goodies. It’s much more appealing to the eyes than a giant plastic container. SHOP NOW |

HOUSEHOLD ESSENTIALS Bamboo Ironing Board I really love the look and quality of wood, and the neutral tones and warm wood of this would go great in the space. I hang my ironing board on the wall with a couple of hooks and it’s not in plain sight, but I know if I do have this out, it will bring me joy to look at (maybe not to use, ha!). SHOP NOW |

WEST ELM French Laundry Basket Is it weird that I have a thing for beautiful baskets? This beautiful laundry basket is huge, so it might not work with my counter idea, but it’s still pretty to look at, right? If I didn’t have space between the washer and dryer I’d likely use this for dirty clothing. SHOP NOW |

STEELE Canvas Extra Tall Basket I’ve always wanted one of these laundry baskets because they look so professional and sturdy. We don’t keep dirty laundry in our bedrooms, so having a laundry basket near the actual laundry area is a must. This one should fit between the washer and dryer perfect while keeping all of our dirty clothing items hidden. SHOP NOW |
