If you have been following along in my photo tips series, you may have already read my post about how to use your real camera for instagram photos. Today I’m sharing with you some of my favorite instagram apps for editing your photos. I am not a very app heavy user, so my list is quite short.
I don’t like to use a lot of filters on my photos, and with the new update, there are many adjustments available in manual mode that give you more control over your final image. If I’m in a hurry, this is the only app that I use. Free, in-app upgrades.
For almost two years now, I’ve used this app. My favorite filters are “bleached”, “loft”, and “high five”. I love how it allows you to adjust the strength of each and blend multiple. $1.99
A heavy duty editing app, not for the faint of heart. There are a ton of features in this app, from special effects to light painting. It’s definitely not for a quick-type edit. $4.99
This app is very basic and easy to use. It’s lightweight and minimal in design, which I love. Free, in-app upgrades.
I don’t use this often, but really enjoy that the filters are higher quality and more in line with what I’m used to for my regular photography editing. Free, in-app upgrades.
This app allows you to schedule your instagram posts ahead of time. It’s perfect for someone on the go who might not remember to post often enough, or for scheduling a giveaway ahead of time. Free, upgraded accounts available.
Do you have any favorite apps for instagram that you’d like to share? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
Thank you so much for including Latergramme in your list.
Thanks for the great review on Latergramme 🙂 We love hearing from our users, especially bloggers who manage so much content.
We’d love to talk to you about a feature on our blog – be in touch!

I only have two of these and I am always on the lookout for ways to improve my iPhone photos so I’m excited to try out the other ones!
I haven’t heard of some of these! Thx!
Thank you for sharing these! I love using apps to edit my pictures for IG!
Thank you for sharing these apps. It’s very helpful because I usually just use the Insta ones, but not always a fan.
OMG I totally didn’t know about some of these apps. I will say Latergramme has been HUGE savior for IG. I am totally about to check out some of these others for sure. I am liking the way that Pic Play Post sounds for sure. Thanks for sharing!!!
I hadn’t heard of most of these, thanks for the tips! I’m just getting started in photography, this is really helpful. Love your website design btw!
Love instagram and VSCO cam and I’ll definitely have to try out the rest.
Thanks for sharing!

Pretty cool apps, will have to check them out!
My favorite is Afterlight! I will have to check out some of your suggestions!
This is a good resource. I generally just us Instagram, but sometimes I want to add a little extra that they don’t provide.
Ohh so glad I came across your blog. I love the design. So clean and gorgeous! I like Afterlight a lot! You should check it out!
Thank you so much! Afterlight keeps coming up as a favorite from people so I’ll have to check it out too.
I need Latergramme! I hate the long pause between posting travel pictures that inevitably happens because I’m stuck on a plane. It would be nice to be able to dole a few out during that downtime 🙂
I’m a huge fan of VSCOcam, but I think you may have just changed my life with Latergramme!!! I’m so excited to start using it. Thanks for the tip!

SAVING THIS POST!!! So useful. I prefer to use VSCOcam or just the tools in Instagram (i.e. no filter, but pushing up saturation, etc.) so I’m really interested in all the other apps you’ve suggested!
