One of my very favorite places that we visited during our trip to Mendocino County was the Point Cabrillo Light Station. I mentioned it briefly in my Guide to Mendocino County, but to reiterate, it is definitely worth a visit. If you can make it for sunset, the views will be even better. We arrived and hiked down the grass trail about an hour and before sunset to explore the lighthouse and cliffs. The visitors center Wildlife was abundant here, with lots of grazing deer and even a harbor seal with her baby in one of the narrow coves. We hung out until the light started to fade away and hiked back uphill via the access road.
